Update

Though I would still love to do a photomosaic I recently decided to present my work in a more traditional sense. Hand developing my own black and white prints on fibre based paper and window mounting them.

The idea came when exploring the idea to why i was photographing trees. The idea was that trees are primal symbols of life and represent an ancient life cycle. With this in mind i decided to present my work using older techniques - the oldest I am able to realistically do in photography.

Below are some inspirational landscape photographers that I have been flicking through recently to gain ideas. Some I like the process in which they take their photos, like Richard Learoyd who uses a huge camera obscura and laborious printing methods. Other have a great concept like Tim Goldener and Tim Hixon. I tried to limit my research to black and white in nature as that is the concrete medium and subject behind my concept, but I inevitably am inspired by a variety of photographers mediums and subjects.

Ideas for Concept development

I never knew what there were called but I have always been interested in trying to make a photomosaic. The only way I knew hot to find out was to google yoda poster, as i knew this was a fairly famous 'tiled image' poster and lucky enough the user had also tagged 'photomosaic.

Following my interest in photographing trees I'd like to experiment by either creating a a traditional photomosaic by constructing a tree from 100's of images, or just begin photographing trees and tiling them to see what effect it might come up with.

The idea came to me when thinking about the international symbol for life. Tree's are proof of growth and though they are incredibly diverse are still all beautiful. It's a little airy fairy, but I am trying to follow my actual interests rather than would i presume other people would find interesting for this subject. Below are a bunch of example of photomosaics that I found on the web.
